An Invite to the New Lakeland Youth Centre ‘Open Evening’

The Education Authority (EA) Youth Service is delighted to invite all members of the community to an Open Evening at the newly built Lakeland Youth Centre, Enniskillen, on Wednesday, 8 February 2017 from 6.00pm to 9.00pm.


This purpose built Youth Centre which had an investment of £1.125m has many contemporary features including a state-of-the-art multi media centre that utilises Apple iMac computers for creative media productions; iPads; graphic tablets; HD video and digital photography cameras and music reading equipment for recording and live performances.

The Centre also features a cyber café with free Internet access; a spacious room with an interactive touch screen panel for training purposes and youth conferences, and an exceptional function space to host GIG nights and other events. 

It will also be an administration hub for Youth Service staff and will be the local Youth Office for registered groups who need support, advice or assistance.

Young people and adults are welcome to come and have a look around the building and view the fantastic new amenities available to young people living in Co Fermanagh at the Open Evening on Wednesday, 8 February from 6pm to 9pm. There will be an opportunity to talk to the Youth Service staff and members of the Youth Council about the different programmes on offer.

The Centre will continue to operate the Lakeland Youth Club on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 7.00pm and 9.30pm for post primary students.  Drop-In sessions; training and volunteering opportunities and access to a variety of developmental programmes including Youth Leadership, Mental Health Awareness; Relationships and Internet Safety will also be available. 

Fermanagh Youth Council will play an important role in leading the development of the Centre programme and will continue to identify issues affecting young people living in the Fermanagh area and formulate actions to address these issues.

The Education and Library Boards (ELBs) were dissolved on 31 March 2015. The Education Authority was established on 01 April 2015 and is now responsible for all of the operational functions previously carried out by the five ELBs in accordance with the Education Orders.
