Education Authority - Queen’s Birthday Honours List

Education Authority Chairperson, Sharon O’Connor, has congratulated past and present employees of the Education Authority who were named in the 2016 Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

She said: “I wish to congratulate our current and former members of staff who have received honours in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List. They are to be commended for the contributions they have made over many years and in many different ways to improving the lives of children and young people and I am delighted that their work has been recognised. Each award is thoroughly deserved.”

Gregory Butler, former EA Regional Managing Director, received an OBE for services to Education. 

Paddy Mackey, former EA Senior Education Officer, received an MBE for services to Education. 

Mary Stevenson, School Crossing Patrol, received an MBE for services to Education in north Belfast.

Owen Maguire, received an MBE for voluntary service to Young People and the Community in Ardoyne North Belfast.

Elizabeth Gray Dickson, formerly Principal, Friends School, Lisburn, received an OBE for services to Education.

Felicity Humphreys, Principal, Moat Primary School, Lisnaskea received an MBE for services to Education.

Anne McDowell, Principal, Galliagh Nursery School, Londonderry, received an MBE for services to Education.

Terence McMaster, Principal, Drumahoe Primary School, Londonderry received an MBE for services to Education.

John Platt, Headteacher, Millburn Primary School, Coleraine received an MBE for services to Education.

Jennifer Jenkins, Senior Executive Officer, Ballyclare High School, County Antrim received an MBE for services to Education.

The Education and Library Boards (ELBs) were dissolved on 31 March 2015. The Education Authority was established on 01 April 2015 and is now responsible for all of the operational functions previously carried out by the five ELBs in accordance with the Education Orders.
