Regional Advisory Group for Youth Publishes First Action Plan

In October 2013 the Minister for Education, Mr John O’Dowd, launched a new policy for youth services entitled ‘Priorities for Youth – Improving Young People’s Lives through Youth Work’. This policy mandated the establishment of a Regional Advisory Group (RAG) and the development of a 3 year Regional Youth Development Plan (RYDP).  Representation from young people, voluntary organisations and other government departments assisted the statutory partners (Education and Library Boards and Youth Council for Northern Ireland) in the construction of this plan and formed the representation for the RAG.

The first meeting of the RAG was in June 2014 and over the past 10 months key actions were developed and approved in the form of a one year transitional framework and action plan for 2015/16. Now the Education Authority has been established it will be the responsibility of both the EA and the YCNI to ensure the implementation of the plan for 2015-16.
