Induction and Early Professional Development

Welcome to the Education Authority’s Induction and Early Professional Development website.  Here you will find important information and support materials for Beginning Teachers, Teacher Tutors and schools on the Induction and EPD stages of the Career Long Professional Development (CLPD) pathway.

Induction and EPD normally take 3 years to complete (possibly longer depending on your employment circumstances).  You will be supported through this process by the Induction and EPD team at the Education Authority.

You will also receive advice, guidance and support from your Teacher Tutor and other colleagues in the school(s) in which you may be working

What do you do next?

  1. Register with the Education Authority Northern Ireland. To do this first follow the link to either Induction or Early Professional Development in the navigation bar.
  2. Register with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI)
  3. Register with the Northern Ireland Substitute Teacher Register (NISTR)

If you wish to talk to someone with regard to any aspect of Induction, Early Professional Development (EPD) or the role of the Teacher Tutor, please go to the ‘Contacts Page’ on the navigation bar.
