A Guide To Early Professional Development

Congratulations - you have completed the Induction phase of your teaching career.

What comes next?

Your professional journey started with learning to teach during your higher education course, then continued with developing your competence through the Induction programme, and now you are ready to move into the Early Professional Development (EPD) phase.  EPD is a progressive 2 year programme of reflective practice that builds on your experiences during Induction.  The EPD process sees a shift in focus from consolidating your teaching skills to reflecting on the effectiveness of the learning. As an EPD teacher you will continue to receive support and guidance from within the teaching profession, all of which is essential for career-long Teacher Professional Learning (TPL).

This short film will introduce you to the requirements of the EPD process.
