Admission to Senior High Schools (Age 14+)

In the Two-Tier System (sometimes known as the Dickson Plan) the majority of pupils attending Controlled Junior High Schools transfer at the end of Key Stage 3 / Year 10 to Controlled Senior High Schools or other post primary schools to complete their compulsory education in Key Stage 4.

How do I apply for a place for a Year 11 place in a Senior High School for September 2019?

There are different arrangements for applicants depending on whether applicants attend a Junior High School.

Applicants attending a Controlled Junior High School:

A form (Form P1/19) will be distributed by your son’s/daughter’s junior high school for you to list the school preferences. This form should be completed and returned to the Junior High School.

Applicants attending a school other than a Controlled Junior High School:

An application form (AP1 14+), is available on request from the School Admissions Office, Armagh. This form should be completed and returned directly to the School Admissions Office where it will be processed and forwarded to the school for consideration and the school’s admissions criteria will be applied to establish whether or not the pupil is to be admitted.
