Post-Primary Schools Admission Guide

Post-primary admissions process will apply to your child unless they have a statement of special educational needs, they are applying to the prep department in a grammar school or they are applying to an independent school.

General information

What age does my child transfer to post-primary school?

The usual age group comprises pupils who have attained the age of 11 years by 1 July 2019, i.e. pupils with dates of birth from 2 July 2007 to 1 July 2008, inclusive.
