Pre-school Admissions Guide

Although pre-school isn't compulsory it has benefits. Our guide will help you understand more about the process and what to expect when applying for a place in pre-school for your child.

Can I still apply for a pre-school place in this current school year September 2018-June 2019?

  • If your child is born on or between 2 July 2014 and 1 July 2015 they are in their target pre-school year and you can apply for admission to either a Nursery School or Nursery Unit or Playgroup during this school year 2018-2019.
  • If your child is born on or between 2 July 2015 and 1 July 2016 they may also be admitted to a Nursery School or a Nursery Unit but only if funded places are still available after target age children are admitted.
  • You should be aware that some pre-schools may now be full at this stage of the school year.   The Education Authority may be able to advise where funded places may still be available but even with this advice you should contact the pre-school provider directly to check if they do still have places available for this current school year.
  • To seek advice or access an application form for this current school year 2018-2019 email preschooladmissions@eani.org.uk or contact the pre-school provider directly.
