Pre-school Admissions Guide

Although pre-school isn't compulsory it has benefits. Our guide will help you understand more about the process and what to expect when applying for a place in pre-school for your child.

How and when will I be notified of placement?

Stage 1 – Final Pre-School Year (Target age)

There are two dates of notification

  • Stage 1

Letters will be posted to parents on Tuesday 28 April 2020 for receipt on Wednesday 29 April 2020.

Due to Covid-19 placement letters will be issued by EA on behalf of schools/playgroups.

If your child is not offered a place the EA will write to you and provide you with information on pre-schools which still have funded places available at the close of Stage 1 and a request for further preferences for processing in Stage 2.

  • Stage 2 (Target age children unplaced at close of Stage 1 and whose parent(s) engaged in Stage 2, new target age applications and underage applications)

Letters will be posted to parents on Monday 8 June 2020 for receipt on Tuesday 9 June 2020.

Due to Covid-19 placement letters will be issued by EA on behalf of schools/playgroups.

If your child is not offered a place the EA will write to you and provide you with information on pre-schools which may still have places available at the close of Stage 2 of the admissions procedure.
  • Placement Notifications after 8 June 2020

As the COVID-19 situation continues any placement notifications for issue after Stage 2 closes on 8 June 2020 will be issued to parents by 30 June 2020 or when the pre-school is able to do so.
