The Education Authority (EA) is pleased to announce an exciting initiative - the EA Instructor Continuous Professional Development Scheme (EA Instructor CPD Scheme) - to support the professional development of existing staff with recognised outdoor qualifications. The aim of the Scheme is to aid staff in attaining a Joint National Council (JNC) qualification and a minimum of one level 3 award within an outdoor learning activity. The EA wants to ensure that opportunities are available to enable motivated individuals, with the relevant skills to deliver outdoor learning, to enhance their skill base in Youth Work and in Outdoor Learning. The professional skills that the EA Instructor CPD Scheme offers will enable staff to develop and improve the quality of the new Outdoor Learning Service. This in turn will enhance the experience of young people who participate in outdoor learning programmes.
Under this scheme the EA will fund up to nine individuals to achieve a professionally recognised youth work degree or post graduate award. Six of these posts will be within the new Peripatetic Service, established through the Moving Forward document, and the remaining three posts will be situated in Outdoor Learning Centres.
