Improvements include refinements to the ‘managing a booking’ process and general system upgrades to enhance the user experience.

The latest functionality delivered has been prioritised and developed in accordance with feedback provided by NISTR users to date. The team would like to thank users for their co-operation and contribution to the development process so far.

User feedback will continue to inform future system upgrades as we work to refine the booking process for supply teachers, school users and EA service users. We have outlined how the changes will affect NISTR users below.

Supply Teachers

Decline a booking

Supply Teachers can now decline a booking which has an ‘offered’ status within the booking system. A reason must be provided and the school will have access to view this. The status will be updated to ‘declined’. Please take time to review any bookings offered on your account and ‘accept’ bookings that you have worked or intend to work, or ‘decline’ bookings that were not worked or are not suitable.

Please note, your profile will appear in school searches if you meet 75% or more of their search criteria, which may mean some dates in the booking overlap with dates you are not available. The newly added ‘decline booking’ function will support you to manage your offered and accepted bookings effectively to ensure your potential for employment opportunity is maximised.

Please see our updated ‘Managing Bookings’ quick reference guide.

System Improvements

We have deployed a number of fixes to resolve some issues faced by supply teachers using NISTR including improving the display of the NISTR interface on mobile devices and allowing streamlined editing of existing bookings. Supply teachers should notice general improvements to system performance.

Schools and EA Service users

Improvements to supply teacher search functionality

Upgrades have been deployed to teacher search functionality to ensure that the search results page is ranked according to suitability of the teacher. The search will no longer randomise and results displayed will be in a fixed position with each teacher only appearing once in a search. Only teachers with an available status for 75% or more of the dates identified by the search parameters will appear to the school.

Please note, teachers who meet your search criteria by 75% or more will show in your search results. Please look at the suitability of each teacher and select the best fit for your requirements.

Declined bookings

Supply Teachers can now decline an ‘offered’ booking and provide a reason for declining to a school. Schools may then recreate the booking within the NISTR solution to offer the position to another suitable teacher.

Please see our updated ‘Managing Bookings’ quick reference guide.

The NISTR Project Team will continue to work in collaboration with the solution developers and key stakeholders, to bring Supply Teachers and School Users more exciting features over the coming weeks.

We are always keen to hear feedback throughout the stages of development on what is working well and what could be improved. Please provide all feedback through the NISTR Contact Form.
