Second call for Outdoor Education Centre Covid-Relief Funding

Friday, 5th March 2021

The Education Authority is making a second call to all Outdoor Education Centres, to apply for Covid-relief funding.

This comes after January’s announcement from the Education Minister, Peter Weir, that £1 million was secured to provide much-needed support to Outdoor Education Centres and to youth providers who offer annual residential based programmes or events.

It is recognised that not all residential experiences for young people are provided by outdoor education centres. A proportion of the residential programmes offered are provided by voluntary youth providers including uniformed organisations and churches at various locations throughout Northern Ireland.

This second call for funding applications has now been extended to include support for those voluntary youth organisations delivering annual residential based events or programmes which are planned in advance, and could not be delivered due to Covid-19 Restrictions.

The COVID-19 Residential Outdoor Education Centre Relief Fund will be administered by the Education Authority’s (EA) Youth Service and will be open for applications from 5th March.

More information on eligibility and how to apply for this funding.

Funding has been provided as part of the Executive’s COVID-19 Relief fund.
