We understand that there may be times when you as a parent/guardian, may disagree with a decision made by the Education Authority (EA). We are always willing to listen to you, consider your views and work to resolve any issues. We will always strive to be honest, helpful and provide excellent customer service. Openness, respect, reflection, responsibility, excellence and equality are at the heart of everything we do within the EA.
There are a number of ways in which your views can be heard:
Statutory Assessment and Review Service (Special Education)
Where your query relates to a child who is undergoing statutory assessment or has a statement of special educational needs (SEN), please contact your named SEN Link Officer or your local EA office to discuss any issues.
Advice and Information Service
Contact the SEN Helpline for general advice and information.
The Helpline operates Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm and can be reached at 028 9598 5960.
If initial attempts to resolve disagreements between a parent/guardian of a child with SEN and either a school or or the Education Authority have not been successful, it may be appropriate to make a referral to DARS. This is an independent service, provided by Global Mediation, offering the opportunity to find a way forward and resolve disputes.

Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST)

It also deals with claims of disability discrimination in relation to children at school.
