The Education Authority (EA) is launching a 12 week public consultation on the proposals for a new funding scheme for Regional and Local Voluntary Youth Organisations.  The consultation will open on Tuesday 6th November 2018 at 4pm and close on Tuesday 5th February 2019 at 4pm.

Funding is provided to the EA by the Department of Education to deliver Youth Services across Northern Ireland.  The funding is used to maximise opportunities for young people through the support of regional services, maintenance of statutory youth provision and providing funding to local voluntary units who satisfy registration criteria and who are eligible for funding.  The EA currently supports 139,426 young people through the provision of funding to 1,668 youth organisations.

In line with Priorities for Youth (2013), the EA is committed to supporting our children and young people to have the best start in life, achieve the best possible outcomes and for the delivery of quality youth services within an educational framework.  Priorities for Youth proposed that a new funding mechanism for youth services was required which would replace historic funding arrangements to regional and local voluntary youth organisations and contribute to positive long term outcomes for children and young people.
