Election of Post Primary Transferor Governors
- Identifying Contributory Primary Schools: The school should send their list of contributory primary schools to the Education Authority (EA) using the link provided in Section A of ‘Procedural Guidance for the Election of Transferor Governors to Controlled Post Primary Schools’. Once this is complete, the school should contact the School Governance Service at: [email protected], at least 5 working days prior to when they plan to start the process, to request contact details of the eligible Transferor governors.
- Seeking Nominations: Post Primary schools should contact Transferor governors from contributory primary schools, using the contact information provided by EA, with the information below:
- Appendix A - Letter to Transferor Governors – Invitation to Nominate
- Appendix B - Candidate Nomination Form
- Appendix C - Personal Statement Form
- List of Eligible Transferor Governors
- Review of Nominations: If the number of nominations is equal to or less than the number of places to be filled by Transferor governors, all candidates should be deemed to have been elected without the need for a vote. Move to point Six.
If the number of nominees is greater than the number of places to be filled by Transferor governors, then an election will be required. Move to point Four. - Identify Election Method: Identify the election method to be used as outlined in the EA ‘Procedural Guidance for the Election of Transferor Governors to Controlled Post Primary Schools’ - Section D.
- Conduct the Election: Inform Transferor governors of election process and invite them to participate. (Appendix E). Issue Ballot papers, (Appendix D) and issue completed personal statements. Facilitate the vote.
- Inform Elected Transferor governors: Write to those elected, to confirm their election as Transferor governor for the post primary school, and the next steps in the process. (Appendix F)
- Inform Transferor governors of the outcome of the election: Write to all Transferor governors who received the initial letter to invite them to nominate, to inform them of the outcome of the election and of any remaining vacancies, if appropriate. (Appendix G)
- Returns to EA: Within seven days of the conclusion of the election process, results must be completed and returned to our School Governance Service using the Outcome of Post Primary Transferor Governor Election form.
