Nominating Candidates for Honours Awards
Honours are given to people from all walks of life and across every section of society who have made a difference to their community. There are several different types of award, each one recognising a different type of contribution.
Honours lists are published at New Year and on the occasion of The Sovereign's Birthday. The opportunity to submit public nominations for future Honour rounds is always available. There are no deadlines for the receipt of nomination forms, but their consideration is likely to take at least 12 to 18 months. This is because of the background work needed to assess a nomination.
The Honours list shows the achievements of many exceptional people from across Northern Ireland who have shown outstanding service and dedication.
The award acknowledges the valuable contribution they have made to the education sector and recognises those who have enriched the lives of thousands of children and young people across Northern Ireland over the years.
Honours committees look for someone who has made a real difference in their field of work or community.
