Effective Responses to Bullying Type Behaviour (updated resource)

When children and young people are involved in incidents of bullying type behaviour, adults need to intervene. In practice there is a wide range of possible interventions available and there are significant differences in these in terms of the purpose of the intervention and the needs being addressed.

This resource aims to promote an anti-bullying culture in schools and to help staff provide support to pupils who have experienced bullying type behaviour and pupils who have engaged in bullying type behaviour.

It provides examples of of strategies to prevent and respond to bullying type behaviour within four levels of intervention and provides schools with practical suggestions on how this bullying behaviour can be addressed. This resource has been updated in line with the Addressing Bullying in Schools Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 requirements.
