Congratulations on qualifying as a teacher and welcome to the Induction pages of the web site. You are now in the second stage of your Career Long Professional Development (CLPD) having successfully completed your Initial Teacher Training.
You are required to keep a portfolio of evidence of your ongoing professional development and reflective practice during Early Professional Development (EPD) which will include 2 Professional Development Activities mapped against appropriate GTCNI teacher competences.
It is compulsory for all Beginning Teachers to participate in the Northern Ireland Induction and Early Professional Development Programme, regardless of where they have completed their Initial Teacher Training.

All Induction Teachers, including those on permanent, temporary, full time or part time contracts and those working on a day-to-day substitute teaching basis, have an entitlement to professional development.
Induction and EPD normally take 3 years to complete (possibly longer depending on your employment circumstances). You will be supported through this process by the Induction and EPD team at the Education Authority.

Welcome to the Teacher Tutor pages of the website. As Teacher Tutor you play an important role in supporting Beginning Teachers within the school context.
EPD sees the focus of reflection shift from thinking about teaching to thinking about learning and is designed to ensure that you continue to receive the support from within the teaching profession which is characteristic of the best practice of professional development.
Afternoon support seminars are offered on a monthly basis at venues across Northern Ireland and you are welcome to attend to receive additional support and to discuss issues with a member of the IEPD team and other EPD teachers.
