Miss School, Miss Out

Good Attendance at school is crucial to the development of children and young people.

It helps them to not only attain qualifications but also to form lifelong learning habits, friendships, positive self-esteem and an interest in a wide range of extra-curricular activities. This in turn encourages them to contribute to society.

Some children and young people will for various reasons have difficulty attending school and the Miss School = Miss Out film in this section highlights some of the reasons why attendance at school can be challenging for some and it also identifies sources of support.

In addition, this section provides school leadership with valuable resources to develop their response to promoting and managing attendance at school, which is an important aspect of the school's pastoral system and child centred approach
