Language & Communication

The EA Language & Communication Service (LCS) supports pupils with identified language difficulties as a primary area of need.

A programme of support for school staff and parents is provided in an educational/ pre-school setting following an assessment of need.

Children who are at Stage 3 of the Code of Practice who meet referral criteria are referred to the service by Educational Psychology.

Language and Communication Service staff may provide one or more of the following supports, depending on the assessed level of need:

  • Capacity building training
  • Targeted Advisory Support
  • Direct intervention (Individual or group)
  • Advice and Guidance
