The aim of Camps in the Community is to provide an opportunity for those young people participating in the TBUC Camps Programmes to share and celebrate their achievements, to focus on social action in planning, upskilling and sharing good practice, to strengthen relationships and positively promoting the TBUC brand within the local and wider community.
We have facilitated a number of these events and below are videos which capture two of the more recent camp experiences.
TBUC Camps 2019-2020
TBUC Camps provide a significant opportunity for young people to challenge their thinking and understanding of the two main traditions in Northern Ireland. In order to extend that opportunity, groups will be encouraged to consider how they can contribute together, to the communities from which they come. This will be achieved through social action projects designed to show how the TBUC Camp learning can be translated into action. Camps in the Community will therefore become not only a celebration of the Camps experience, but also a celebration of the social action projects completed by the groups in 2018-19 & 2019-2020
Camps in the Community will provide speakers, workshops and planning time for the various groups to be inspired, up-skilled and facilitated to consider their own social action project. Funding for social action projects, capped at 10% of the total allocation, will be available throughout the year for successful groups of 2019/20, subject to the availability of budget.
