Services

Elective Home Education is the term used to describe the practice by which parents decide to educate their children outside of the school system.  This is different to tuition provided by the EA to a child who is unwell or who attends alternative group arrangements provided by the EA. Elective Home Education is sometimes referred to as ‘EHE’.

We provide a high quality support and intervention service to schools and young people to reduce barriers to learning and support young people to maintain their place in school.

Pupil Support Services provide support across the Authority to schools, parents, children and young people for a range of special educational and medical needs. The Services deliver extensive programmes which assist schools in their responsibilities in supporting children and young people with SEN and medical needs.

The EA Youth Service manages and operates a range of funding programmes to support the delivery of Youth Work Practice, the Youth Work Curriculum and to improve outcomes for all our children and young people. Funding opportunities and registration take place at key times throughout the year and this section will provide you with information when they are open to application.

The EA Music Service offers access to the world of music making, providing potentially life changing musical experiences that are relevant and engaging.

EA tv is the online television service for the Education Authority and is an integral part of the School Development Service. It provides access to a wide range of on demand Teacher Professional Learning programmes for teachers, school leaders, governors and other stakeholders.

The Education Welfare Service (EWS) is a specialist education support service which seeks to help young people and their families get the best out of the education system.

The Educational Psychology Service is child-centred and works within a multiagency context. We also look at difficulties a child may be experiencing in a broad ‘systemic way’. This means we try to take into account all of the influences that may be affecting the child and the difficulty.

The School Development Service (SDS) delivers high quality strategic support and challenge to school principals, Boards of Governors and school staff in order to ensure that standards are raised and education outcomes for children and young people are improved.

Induction and EPD normally take 3 years to complete (possibly longer depending on your employment circumstances). You will be supported through this process by the Induction and EPD team at the Education Authority.
