Purpose of the Joint Consultative Forum (JCF)
The primary focus of the Joint Consultative Forum (JCF) is to consider issues arising from the implementation of the equality duties under Section 75 of the NI Act 1998. Highlighted by the Equality Commission as a model of good practice in developing and improving engagement between sectors regarding equality issues.
Aim
The aim of the JCF is to facilitate effective engagement with the Community, Voluntary and Trade Union Sectors on Section 75 (Equality) legislation and developments on Education Policy.
Terms of Reference
The Joint Consultative Forum (JCF) was established in April 2004 in Partnership with NICEM. The JCF will provide a structure for engagement for policy development and other areas of common interest between the Education Authority and Community and Voluntary and Trade Union Sectors, the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland; the Community Relations Council; the Human Rights Commission and the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People.
Membership
Membership of the forum is open to the community and voluntary sector and trade unions with an interest in the education.
Meetings
The Forum will meet at least 3 times per year. Further meetings may be arranged to discuss specific issues as required.
