Early Career Teachers Induction and Early Professional Development

Information on Induction and Early Professional Development (EPD), how to register and the role of the Teacher Tutor.

Induction and EPD normally take 3 years to complete (possibly longer depending on your employment circumstances). You will be supported through this process by the Induction and EPD team at the Education Authority. You will also receive advice, guidance and support from your Teacher Tutor and other colleagues in the school(s) in which you may be working.

Registration for Early Career Teachers (Induction & EPD) and Teacher Tutors is now open.

Registered teachers receive access and a password to apply for webinars/events organised as part of the Early Career Teacher & Teacher Tutor Programme 2023-2024.

Early Career Teachers is a new term for beginning teachers. It is now used as this best reflects the profile of the teaching professional in the 21st century and the wide level of experiences they bring to their schools.

What do you do next?

  1. Register with the Education Authority Northern Ireland
  2. Register with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI)
  3. Register with the Northern Ireland Supply Teacher Register (NISTR)
