The EA Equality Scheme is a formal document created by the Education Authority (EA) in Northern Ireland. It is drawn up in accordance with Section 75 and Schedule 9 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998. The scheme outlines how the EA will fulfil its legal duties to promote equality of opportunity and good relations across a range of categories, including religious belief, political opinion, race, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender, disability, and dependents.
The scheme is essential for ensuring that the Education Authority meets its statutory equality obligations, promotes a culture of inclusion, and delivers services fairly to all sections of the community. It also provides transparency and accountability in how equality is embedded in all aspects of the EA’s work.
As part of the commitments made under the equality scheme EA has developed and implemented an EAP and DAP 2022-2027.
