Who we are
The Controlled Schools Unit (CSU) has been established by the Education Authority (EA) to:
- Assist the EA to meet its duty as a Management Authority of Controlled Schools providing dedicated, distinctive and sector specific support;
- Formalise the relationship between the CSU, wider EA services and external delivery partners including Controlled Schools Support Council (CSSC); and
- Engage in a strategic conversation with the Controlled Schools Sector to develop a create strategic vision and priorities that will inform the operational role of the CSU.
What we do
The Controlled Schools’ Unit will:
- Facilitate joined-up, cross-service approaches.
- Make it easier for schools to access EA support and guidance.
- Develop a mechanism for capturing and monitoring sectoral performance.
- Offer a strategic focus on behalf of the sector in areas such as:
- School improvement and professional learning;
- Governance and school management; and
- Area Planning.
