Alternative Transport Applications Due to Medical Needs

Where a child who is currently in receipt of Home to School Transport Assistance is unable to attend school by means of the current transport provision due to a medical need and you are unable to make your own alternative travel arrangements, we may offer alternative assistance.

There are 2 types of applications;

Short Term or Interim Medical Need  (Up to 6 weeks)

Pupils who require alternative Home to School Transport Assistance for a temporary period. Typical examples of short term medical conditions would be an ankle fracture or post –operative procedures in which the child is expected to make a full recovery within a dedicated time period.

Upon submission of the online application and completed medical questionnaire from your Child’s GP your application will then be referred to the Transport Operations Service for consideration and a response will be issued to you within 10 working days.

Long Term or Chronic Medical Need

Pupils who requires alternative Home to School Transport Assistance for an unspecified period of time. An example of a long term medical condition would be any condition that impacts on the child’s mobility and therefore ability to use the current transport provision for an unspecified period of time.

Upon submission of the online application and completed medical questionnaire from your Child’s Consultant your application will then be referred to the Transport Operations Service for consideration and a response will be issued to you within 10 working days.
