Last month, Galbally Community Centre played host to an inspiring professional learning session for staff from Walker Memorial Primary School, Blessed Patrick O'Loughran Primary School, and St Joseph's Primary School Galbally.

The event was facilitated by Sinéad McDermott, an educator with 25 years of experience, an award-winning artist, and a certified NLP Mindset & Mindfulness Practitioner.

Building on the success of previous Shared Education art sessions with pupils, all three principals recognised the importance of extending this opportunity to staff. Using PEACEPLUS ASPIRE funding, the session focused on Interactive Art and Mindfulness, offering teachers a chance to relax, recharge, and develop new skills.

The workshop provided a welcome respite from daily pressures, aiming to enhance staff wellbeing and equip teams with practical techniques to foster a creative and supportive school environment. As snow fell outside, the day concluded on a festive note with participants creating their own snow-inspired art pieces—a perfect reflection of the season and the spirit of collaboration.

PEACEPLUS ASPIRE (Advancing Shared Partnerships through Inclusive Relationships in Education) is led by the Education Authority (EA), in partnership with Léargas, Early Years- the organisation for young children, National Childhood Network and the Fermanagh Trust. It is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).  It aims to provide direct and sustained contact between children and young people from all backgrounds.Group of people sitting around three tables writing and drawing on paper
