On a wet and windy morning in early February, pupils from Killyleagh IPS and St Mary’s PS Killyleagh shook off the cobwebs with a lively and uplifting session led by The Gathering Drum

The room buzzed with energy as percussion instruments were played, drums were beaten, and the sound echoed joyfully throughout the space, bringing smiles to everyone involved.

A shared break provided valuable time for pupils to chat, play and build friendships across the two schools. Expertly coordinated by the PEACEPLUS ASPIRE Link teachers, the session proved to be both highly productive and thoroughly enjoyable for all.

PEACEPLUS ASPIRE (Advancing Shared Partnerships through Inclusive Relationships in Education) is led by the Education Authority (EA), alongside Léargas, Early Years- the organisation for young children, National Childhood Network (NCN) and the Fermanagh Trust. The project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). It aims to provide direct and sustained contact between children and young people from all backgrounds.
