The school’s focus on inclusivity and support of every child and young person to reach their full potential is applauded.
I am delighted to have had the opportunity to visit Limavady High School to meet with the young people and the student council to hear all the great work that is being progressed.”
Cynthia Currie, EA Interim Education Director, said:
“Limavady High School offers significant shared education opportunities to all its students.
The school also has a strong focus on pastoral care ensuring children and young people are given a range of academic and vocational opportunities so that students are fully prepared for entering the world of work. In visiting the school it was brilliant to see how the new investment in the school’s facilities is having a real and tangible impact on teaching and learning in the classroom.
I congratulate the school leadership team, school staff, and students on winning this prestigious award.”
Darren Mornin, Principal of Limavady High School, Limavady, said:
“It was fantastic to welcome our CEO, Sara Long and Interim Education Director, Cynthia Currie, to the school to visit some of our classes and speak directly to our fantastic pupils about their ongoing projects which are making such a difference.
Winning the Pearson Award is a huge achievement for our school and our community. This award is amazing recognition for all the hard work everyone here has put into making Limavady such a special place. This award is for our students and our community.
We have a family ethos here, it’s about being kind to others. It’s why so many parents choose to send their children to our school. This award will take pride of place, so that every child can see how special they are.”
The Pearson National Teaching Awards is an annual celebration of excellence in education, founded in 1998 by Lord Puttnam to recognise the life-changing impact an inspirational teacher can have on the lives of the young people they work with.
