If you’re aged 19 or over and planning to study a full or part time course at a Further Education (FE) College, applying for some financial support is now easier than ever through the Education Authority (EA’s) new online system.

Depending on your course, you could be entitled to a Further Education grant towards living costs, tuition fees, childcare, or books and stationery.

The application process is quick and easy and can be done through the EA website thanks to a new system designed completely in-house.

Where students previously had to complete a 16-page paper application, the introduction of the digital system means it now takes around ten minutes to submit online with much quicker processing times.

The new FE Grants system had already seen over 1,200 applications submitted by the end of July 2024 – compared with 279 by the same date last year.

Chris Scott, Head of Admissions and Financial Support at the Education Authority (EA), said:

“We are delighted to introduce this new system which means that students can now apply for a grant in a much simpler and straight forward way.

“This opens up more opportunities for learning and development for young people, particularly those from economically deprived backgrounds, helping them to reach their full potential and achieve their goals.”
