Education Authority nominated for British Data Awards

The categories are ‘Education Initiative of the Year’, ‘Data for Good Initiative of the Year’ and ‘Public Sector Organisation of the Year’.

The EA’s nomination for ‘Education Initiative of the Year’ is a result of the organisation’s Data Analytic Team working with the Post Primary Behaviour Support and Provisions Service to address data processing and quality issues, build data definitions and design performance issues. The Data Working Group engaged with schools to redesign the processes using the Microsoft Power platform to automate the referral and case management system. 

The nomination for ‘Data for Good Initiative of the Year’ followed on from Data Analytic Team assisting the EA’s Intercultural Education Service in supporting displaced Ukrainian families. The Team collected and analysed data to aid the placement of Ukrainian children into Northern Irish schools; as well as considering special educational needs, language ability, cultural and ethnic background, and diversity across each school. As an organisation, the EA, working with principals and school leaders, was proud to help place Ukrainian children and young people in safe, stable environments where they were able to continue their education.

The third nomination for ‘Public Sector Organisation of the Year’ was in recognition of the efforts of EA’s Data Analytics and Insights team in securing the two other nominations.

Finalists will be celebrated and winners announced at a special awards ceremony due to take place on Thursday 11th May at The Honourable Artillery Company in Central London.
