Since January, P4, P5 and P6 pupils have enjoyed meeting across both schools, taking part in fun “getting to know you” activities, confidence-building games, PATHS lessons and shared ICT sessions. The partnership, first developed through CASE and now continued through PEACEPLUS ASPIRE, has helped pupils build friendships, strengthen teamwork and develop important social and emotional skills.

A highlight of the year was a joint celebration assembly at St Matthew’s, where pupils proudly performed together and showcased what they had learned. Parents also came together for a well-attended digital safety session at Nettlefield, led by Wayne Denner, offering practical advice on helping children stay safe online.

Pupils spoke warmly about the experience. Anais from Nettlefield said: “I really loved that we met new people and sang a song that I love. I loved doing ICT — it was so fun!” Summer from St Matthew’s added: “I love getting to know new people and I feel very honoured to have been voted as the Shared Education Ambassador this year so that we can all work together.”

The PEACEPLUS ASPIRE project is led by the Education Authority in partnership with Léargas, Early Years – the organisation for young children, the National Childhood Network, and the Fermanagh Trust. The project is funded by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
