11 December 2025

Children and staff of Laghey Primary School and Killyman Primary School came together to fill Christmas shoeboxes for charity under the theme of “giving.”

Primary one and two pupils and their families provided generous donations - from fun toys and stationery to clothing, sweet treats, and personal care essentials - for the Christmas shoebox appeal in aid of Dungannon Vineyard.

Working in small groups, the children showed fantastic teamwork and lively discussion as they carefully packed each shoebox for a boy or girl. Their enthusiasm and sense of community shone through at every stage, making the activity both meaningful and enjoyable.

Once the boxes were complete, the celebrations continued with festive fun — hot chocolate, birthday cake, and cheerful Christmas music filling the hall. Lynda from Vineyard also visited, sharing more about the charity’s work and leaving with a car packed full of shoeboxes ready to make a difference.

This was a wonderful opportunity for pupils to experience the joy of giving and to support those less fortunate in their local community

PEACEPLUS ASPIRE (Advancing Shared Partnerships through Inclusive Relationships in Education) is led by the Education Authority (EA), alongside Léargas, Early Years- the organisation for young children, National Childhood Network (NCN) and the Fermanagh Trust. The project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). It aims to provide direct and sustained contact between children and young people from all backgrounds.
