Pupils have fun and make friends on the Volleyball courts
15 December 2025
St Colum’s Primary School and Portstewart Primary School came together at Ulster University, Coleraine, for an exciting day of sport and friendship.
Pupils from both schools joined forces through the PEACEPLUS ASPIRE Partnership programme, taking to the courts for basketball and volleyball with the support of coach Stephen McCartney from Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and Gary Devenney from Basketball NI.
The session celebrated teamwork, healthy competition, and the power of collaboration—bringing young people together across communities to learn, play, and grow. With energy, enthusiasm, and plenty of smiles, the pupils showed how sport can build confidence and strengthen bonds that go beyond the game.
PEACEPLUS ASPIRE (Advancing Shared Partnerships through Inclusive Relationships in Education) is led by the Education Authority (EA), alongside Léargas, Early Years- the organisation for young children, National Childhood Network (NCN) and the Fermanagh Trust. The project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). It aims to provide direct and sustained contact between children and young people from all backgrounds.
