Summer scheme season underway

Over the course of the school summer holidays, summer schemes will take place at 29 special schools across NI. That’s on a par with provision last year.

The schemes are being run by the Education Authority, with nursing support provided by HSC staff in accordance with the needs of children attending schemes.

The EA is currently working with partners in health and education to plan for summer schemes in 2027 and beyond.

Sustained engagement is also ongoing with health colleagues on term-time health care in special schools.
