The Pearson National Teaching Award in the Lifetime Achievement Category has been awarded to John Murray.
John was nominated for the Pearson Awards in acknowledgement by his peers as a truly inspirational teacher and school leader. John began his teaching career in 1988 in Sion Mills Primary before moving to St Anne’s Convent Primary in Strabane where he took on the role of Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and Vice Principal. Following that, in 2011, John took up the post of Principal in St Joseph’s Primary School in Drumquin and since 2019 has been enriching children’s lives as Education Authority (EA) Primary Behaviour Support and Provisions Officer.
Mr Andrew Murrock Senior Teacher Fir Trees EOTAS said;
“Johns lives the EA values in his daily work and truly supports each person he interacts with to ensure they can be the best that they can be. He has shared his knowledge of leadership to support colleagues’ growth and development within EA. His natural ability to reach and connect with all people he interacts with in a supportive and non-judgemental way has enabled him to inspire colleagues, transform the lives of children and be a true partner of parents/carers in their child’s journey through education. A well-deserved award for a truly inspirational person.”
