The changes to the process will take effect from 12th January 2026 and will bring benefits for parents and schools. It will involve the online portal for requests/referrals moving to EA Connect. This user-friendly platform is already home to several key services delivered by EA to support schools, pupils, and their families.

To facilitate this important improvement, the existing online portal for requesting statutory assessments will close at 5pm on Friday 12 December 2025.

After this date, if you want to submit a request before the new system goes live in the new year, you can do so by completing a form. You will be able to download a form from the EA SEN website from this Friday.

Alternatively, you can wait until 12th January 2026 and submit a request under the new and improved system.

Some of the many benefits of the changes will be:

  • Improved communication and coordination between schools, parents, and EA staff.
  • Parents can access the latest information online on the progress of applications.
  • Easy to use forms.
