Accommodation
Shannaghmore can provides accommodation for 50 with an additional option of campsite facilities with toilets and showers.
Shannaghmore Outdoor Learning Centre is located on the edge of the Mourne Mountains just outside Newcastle County Down. The centre has direct access to mountains, forests, rivers, lakes and the Irish Sea coast. The rich local environment offers opportunity for hillwalking, rock climbing, camping, canoeing, mountain biking and orienteering. The extensive onsite facilities include high and low ropes courses, a lake, archery range, climbing wall, mountain bike trail, orienteering courses, nightline, zip line and an outdoor football pitch. The location of the site and the natural environment surrounding it offers great opportunities for the Centres specialisms of mountain & land-based training, adult training, curriculum links, progression routes for young people, volunteer and instructor development to be achieved.
The Centre currently delivers a level 2 hillwalking course to teaching and youth work staff which is accredited by EA. This focuses on participants who deliver outdoor learning programmes within their schools or youth group’s e.g. Duke of Edinburgh / Joint Initiative Awards.

*The prices illustrated are based on groups leaving at 11am on the day of departure. Departures after 11am will result in a day visit charge.
All rates shown apply ONLY to Education Authority Registered Schools and Youth Organisations. The rates for Non-Registered Schools and Youth Organisation, 3rd Level Education Institutions, and organisations inside Northern Ireland will be costed at +25% and groups outside of Northern Ireland costed at +100% over the illustrated rates. These rates are valid from 1st July 2026 to 30th June 2027.

Following our annual rates review, the rates for our Outdoor Learning Centres have increased due to an increase in the operational and running cost. These rates will be in place from 1st July 2026 until 30th June 2027.
