The Education Authority's estate covers all of Northern Ireland and comprises more than 200 premises, 2,000 schools, nearly 600 school meals' kitchens and a fleet of more than1000 vehicles. Addressing climate change is a strategic priority and a key objective in meeting the requirements of the Climate Change Act NI 2022.
The EA has been awarded £298,000 to undertake an SBRI research project to assess the technical feasibility of solutions that can capture, baseline, track and report on carbon emissions across the EA's estate.
Four suppliers have been appointed to take forward the research project, to find a way to quantify the carbon emissions produced by our network of buildings and vehicles.
The four suppliers are:
- Analytics Engines Ltd
- Deloitte MCS
- Sustain IQ Ltd
- Helix 8
We look forward to working with these innovative companies over the coming months to develop a solution that will assist in our key objective of meeting the requirements of the Climate Change Act NI 2022.
Phase 1 is due to complete in March 2023.
