The Education Authority (EA) manages the procedures for the enrolment of children in pre-school (age 2-4 years), primary school (age 4-11 years) and post primary school (age 11-18 years). Each year staff assist parents and schools in enrolling approximately 70,000 children into various types of educational settings.
EA has been engaging with parents, pre-school settings, schools and staff to explore innovative ways of transforming the admissions process.
From January 2019 EA will accept and process applications for pre-school and primary school places online for the September 2019 intake. The post-primary school admission process for the September 2019 will remain the same.
The EA Digital Admissions Online Resource Hub provides support materials (below) that schools and pre-school providers can access to find out more about the new pre-school and primary application process.
The new digital admissions application process for pre-school and primary school will go live on Wednesday 2 January 2019. Parents will be able to access the parent portal and schools will be able to access the school portal from this date. The closing time and date for applications for pre-school and primary school places will be 12.00 midnight on Thursday 31 January 2019.
